January 9 Ed Herke north of Osgood hosts a large livestock sale with 24 Hereford feeder steers, 14 Holstein cows and heifers, five horses, sows and feeder pigs, plus machinery. more details next week. Three Masses Scheduled for Christmas Day at Catholic Church
The Catholic church will hold three Christmas Day masses at seven, after the second, and nine, with Confessions offered Monday afternoon and evening and Tuesday from 2 to 6 pm. Rev. Father Charles Cassidy of Des Moines assisted Father Kelly Sunde and delivered a sermon at the nine o'clock mass on the true meaning of Christmas.

Taghley & Co investors of Des Moines purchased the $15,000 refunding bonds offered by the board of education of the Gract tinger Independent School District at a Thursday meeting. A Webster City blaze swept through half a block of brick business buildings causing extensive damage estimated at fifty thousand dollars. Fire crews fought the flames and prevented spread to adjacent structures. No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.

Funeral for George Amdahl Next Friday
George Amdahl 72 of Estherville died Monday afternoon at home after a period of illness. Funeral services will be held next Friday at 1 PM at the Estherville home and 1:30 PM at the Lutheran church. The Rev. Mathie will officiate. He is survived by his wife and four children, including Joe of Graettinger, Art of Estherville, Emmett of Jackson Minnesota, and Charley Jackson’s wife. The obituary notice will appear next week and the family expresses gratitude for the sympathy received.
