Axelton of Graettinger observed his 82nd birthday on Monday December 8th. His niece Mrs Levi Olgon gifted a handmade birthday cake with 89 candles. A native of Bergen Norway he learned the lock smith trade there and moved to Graettinger about 41 years ago becoming one of the town’s busiest men.

Graettinger Independent basketball team announces plans for games tonight against Swea City and Saturday at Fenton. Manager Sam Reynolds confirms lineup: Marvin Wikert Holger Geil Gerald Bonstead Lester Craven Cecil Jones Merle Jones Bennett Thoreson Norman Thoreson plus Reynolds. The eight players are former high school stars, with two home games planned during holiday break.
John Kelly son of Mr and Mrs J M Kelly of Ayrshire will be ordained a priest of the Catholic church in Rome on Saturday December 20 at St John Lateran. Twenty six class members are Americans. He will celebrate first mass December 21 at the shrine of the Little Flower. He is 24, educated at Ayrshire High School, Juait college Kansas, Columbia college Dubuque, North American college Rome. He will join Sioux City diocese after ordination.
Graettinger friends learned of Henry Hansen death after he collapsed at work at the Ottumwa creamery. He died at home soon after and was 49, born in Denmark. Survived by wife and two daughters. Funeral services were held in Ottumwa and Audubon with many creamer y officials in attendance. Directors from Ottumwa creamery served as pallbearers.
The Graettinger High School Girls Glee Club will present a Christmas Carol program at the M E Church Sunday at 7 30 PM. Miss Pearl Noble directs the choir, with the event open to the public and all invited.
