Graettinger High School freshman Charles Baker suffered two broken arms on Thanksgiving day when the car motor kicked as he cranked it. He is recovering and has the sympathy of many school friends.
Virgil Kline, a farm boy from Reinbeck, recalls the Klondike rush of 1897. He reached Skagway alone after Campbell turned back at Seattle and worked Donner's Creek for $92,000 in gold. He plans to return to Alaska to finish prospecting while visiting family in the meantime.

K Scharff of Jefferson Town held a three year lease and quit at month end over unfulfilled oral agreements. Owners Robert and Alfred Simonsen of the locality own the building and fixtures. In other news, Mr and Mrs Harry McCulloch and family moved to Forest City for future residence with Mr McCulloch employed by their summer employer. The community wishes them well.
Emmetsburg High School was dedicated Tuesday evening to unveil a new $125,000 structure. Dr. A. A. Theile, president of the board, delivered the presentation speech while W. J. Branagan, editor of the Emmetsburg Democrat, gave the response after a lengthy program. The new school house is a splendid building.
Four workmen started yesterday installing the new electrolier in Graettinger. The cable arrived Tuesday and trench work began Wednesday morning. Albert Suss laid cement bases for the electroliers. A new lighting system should be in place within a week or ten days. The St Olaf chair from Northfield Minnesota will tour six states after the holidays.
