Santa Claus Set to Visit Graettinger This Weekend

Santa Claus will visit Graettinger Saturday and Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock, delivering candy and gifts to local children and country youths. The American Legion has organized the event, with a Christmas tree in the shopping district and colored lights on Robbins Avenue. Santa will arrive down the Robbins Avenue hill and plans a second stop with fresh candy stock.

Graettinger Boys Fall to Terril in Doubleheader

Graettinger High School lost both games to Terril on Terril floor Tuesday. The Graettinger Seconds were routed 82 to 4 while the Graettinger first team trailed 45 to 14. Absent players Donald Jones and Joe Grady hurt Graettinger, but Terril displayed size and scoring with four 4-year players. Earlier, Graettinger teams played Ayrshire with girls losing 18 to 8 and boys 21 to 12. large crowd attendance marked the event.

Jacob Stewart Died in Stratford Ontario Beacon Herald

Mrs J W Brennan of this city received a copy of the Stratford Ontario Beacon Herald reporting the death of Jacob Stewart a pioneer of this county who died in Stratford Tuesday December 9 after a stroke. He was born in West Dorchester Ontario 66 years ago and lived in Walnut township before moving to North Dakota and returning to Stratford seven years ago. He was a Catholic and Holy Name Society member, left a large family with five brothers and two sisters surviving. He was a single man with a wide circle of friends in Palo Alto and our county who mourn his passing.

The new electrolier lighting system was activated Saturday evening with eighteen electroliers along Robbins Avenue lit for the first time. A globe update will follow to improve reflected light, and the main business street presents a pleasing new look.

Richardson Undergoes Another Operation at Estherville

A. W. Richardson, patient at Coleman hospital in Estherville, underwent a second operation yesterday to remove a section of bone. The wound from his earlier foot amputation was not healing properly, prompting the additional surgery. Graettinger friends express hope for his rapid and full recovery.

Fire in Estherville Garage Damages County Building

A fire started in the county garage at Estherville last Thursday after Glenn Yates, a tank truck driver, dropped a five gallon can of gasoline whose oil splashed into an open flame. Considerable interior damage resulted.
