Graettinger plans its 29th annual Labor Day event on Monday September 6 featuring a big baseball game between leading northwest Iowa teams. A citizens meeting formed committees for finances street attractions and events with plans for a parade a rodeo by Pat Griffin and a night entertainment program including a dance by Legion boys and a Bowery. The speaker lineup included Attorney Stewart and local officials approved by the committee with final arrangements to be announced next Tuesday. Mr and Mrs Cecil Sampson departed for Council Bluffs to start new jobs as they move their family residence and mail carrier position remains noted.

Frick Reeves defeated the Quaker bunch 6 to 4. Estherville beat local team 4 to 2, Emmetsburg beat locals 8 to 2. Weather may postpone midweek games. a Graettinger kitten ball tournament is planned for August 29 with Estherville Emmetsburg Algona and Graettinger invited.

Patrick C. Nolan a Palo Alto County pioneer and former sheriff who lived southwest of Graettinger passed away this morning at his son C. M. Nolans home. He was over 87 and had been seriously ill for some time. The funeral will be at the Catholic church with burial at Kimmetsburg. date to be announced.
