A major electrical storm swept Graettinger on Sunday around 6 a m lasting 25 to 30 minutes. Lightning struck the Sevdy residence causing extensive damage including chimney, stove pipes, cabinet pieces, and torn door parts. The Hansen home also suffered plaster damage, a damaged telephone, and shock to Mrs Hansen. Fred Beell Dies in Battle With Gangsters at 67
Marshfield Wisconsin reports Fred Beell a 67 year old town marshal was killed Saturday by machine gun fire while stopping bandits who had raided a brewery office. Beell, once a middleweight wrestling champion noted for throwing Frank Gotch, traveled widely as a wrestler and once wrestled Ben Reeves for a Wisconsin feature. Reeves, catching for a traveling team, recalls the brutal match, and Beell once challenged Tom Jenkins in 1903 wagering $1,000 to throw the 220 pound champion. Jos Frankstein, 92, was killed while threshing on the Horry Kleigt farm southwest of Ayrshire. He fell from the hay tack to the ground. The wagon ran over him, crushing him. he died shortly after at Emmeisburg hospital. He lived in Webb, Clay county. He is survived by a wife and seven children.
