Prices for farm goods rose between June 45 and July 16 led by grain gains. Wheat up 28 cents per bushel, corn and barley 17 cents, oats 16 cents. Dairy poultry and potatoes also climbed while hogs and beef cattle held steady. Eggs rose, chickens up one cent per pound. potatoes up $1.00 per bushel. Des Moines visit noted for Mr and Mrs McNew and John Carlson with Winnifred and Virginia.
Des Moines August 1 Iowa to host Friday program inviting all state youth to attend the State Fair Children’s party free for under ten. Event highlights include performances by Iowa boys and town baby elephants daylight fire works clown acts a hippodrome night show with horserace and fireworks. Last year over 25009 youngsters attended the fair’s free party.
Members of the local Farm Union will hold a dance at Electric Park Lost Island lake on Wednesday August 9 with good music. A cordial invitation is extended to all to attend. Funeral details not provided.

Neighbors attended the last rites for A P Ekstrom who died Tuesday morning at his daughter's home after two strokes. Born 1828 in Ekby Sweden, he lived in Denmark and the United States before settling in Gruettinger, Farm No. Lost Island Township. Survived by wife Anna and ten children, with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Interment was in South Walnut Cemetery. pallbearers named.

At a Monday school board meeting J. B. Nelson of Tarjil was elected music and history teacher for Giasttinger public schools. Nelson had been teaching atpeal for the prior position, and the board discussed staffing needs and curriculum shifts.
