The large 84 by 108 foot barn on the T Jacobsen farm near Graettinger burned last evening with 160 tons of timothy hay in the loft. Fire began in the hay and spread rapidly. horses were saved, livestock elsewhere unaffected. Cause unknown, likely spontaneous combustion. the home, hog house and granary were endangered but saved. Two Sad Accidents At Wells Minnesota
Wells Minnesota last week saw two tragic farm accidents. John Weitzell cutting hay his 16 month old brother toddled into the mower and the device severed both legs of the infant below the knee. The child died shortly after. Melvin Vogelsang, 14, fell from a hay stack onto a pitchfork, the handle penetrating his body. He was taken to Albert Lea hospital for surgery in a bid to save him.

Truck Hit By Circus Train At Crossing West Of Depot
LC Oleson of this city drove a truck that was struck by the third section of the Ringlings circus train at a crossing a block west of the Milwaukee depot. The crash left the truck with a bent front axle and a lost wheel. The crossing is hazardous due to poor visibility past an ice house on the east side. Harvest season nears its end as Graettinger area farmers report good small grain yields and minimal hail damage after a recent east-of-town storm.
