Expect Large Apple Yield in Iowa This Year
Iowa State College horticulturalist H F Nichols says Iowa may see a strong apple crop after two to three weak years due to increased spraying, dry weather reducing scab earlier but rains reviving diseases. Spraying should occur July 24 81 in the south and early August in the north to combat codling moth and scab, with four quarts lime sulphur and one pound lead arsenate per 60 gallons. Wealthies and late varieties favored. no spray for summer apples.
