Postage Rates Revised and Local Notices From Graettinger

The Postage rate on newspapers rises to two cents per two ounces, up from one cent for four ounces, with a one and a half cent rate for all circular matter. Puritan Federation Speaker to Visit Graettinger

Miss Emily Mitchell Porter of Winterset, representative of the World's Purity Federation, will hold two meetings in Graettinger on Tuesday May 6. At 3 p.m. she addresses mothers in the school basement on Mothers Relation To Girlhood Problems, and in the evening at the High School assembly she speaks on Our Moral Responsibility. Porter has fifteen years in educational and social service work including Tarkio College and rescue programs in Chicago Columbus and Anamosa. She travels at her own expense. no offering will be taken there is no charge.

Armstrong Triumphs 5 4 In Ninth Inning Rally

Armstrong beat the local High School 5 to 4 in a ninth inning rally at the focal diamond. Gracttinger led early, but the visitors surged late with four hits to clinch the win. Peterson pitched well in his first High School game, allowing only a few hits until the final frame. The locals failed to bunch hits, made more errors, and Dandlus was ruled out at home to end the game. Next up, Widlar’s team travels Friday to face Magated High School at that place.

A special Mason City train with speakers and a band arrives in Gruettinger Tuesday evening May 6 at 6 24 protective time to meet northern Iowa shoppers. Kathman improving. surgery for liver abscess performed

The Times reports John Kathman recovering after a liver abscess surgery done by Drs. Birney, Kenefick, and Cretzmeyer. He was very ill Sunday and Monday but began to recover by Tuesday and Wednesday, with friends hoping to see him out soon. Also notes a cedar chest and piano bench on display in Charley Jansen’s window, crafted by John Helgeson and Joseph Lande, plus praise for pupil work under Mr. Widler at the Gretting er Schools.

Road Graveling petition expanded to county system

Graettinger to Tallow road added to county system and nine miles more graveling sought. Supervisors expected to approve the petitioners request as funds are available to improve this year. The gravelling would benefit many travelers along the route.
