High School Senior Met Strange Death
Percy Henderson aged 17 a Paullina high school senior died in a bizarre accident while riding a motorcycle. A scoop shovel tied to the handlebars caused fatal strangulation when rope ends wrapped around his neck. The machine could not be stopped in time.

Five Young Men Die In Okoboji Train Car Crash
Five Jackson area youths aged 20 to 26 were killed when their car collided with a Milwaukee railroad motor coach at the Okoboji Narrows crossing north of Arnolds Park. Names include Sam Smith Glenn Lester Rudolph Vacura Harold Teagen and Frank Cirhan. The driver misjudged the crossing and the car struck the engine as the train crawled by. Three occupants were crushed inside the coupe. two bodies were thrown from the wreck. Cirhan died en route to Milford hospital. The crash halted a planned dance trip after the orchestra was involved in a separate accident. The gruesome scene drew thousands to the lakeside area.
