Fire drill at Graetlinger Fire Department

Chief Henningson led the Graetlinger Fire Department in a Tuesday afternoon drill at Farmers Creamery Co. east of the telephone office. The exercise aimed to train members on fire response procedures while equipment was inspected and hydrants tested.

A high wind fire at the Michael building Saturday forenoon in the south side business district prompted swift action by firefighters. A ten horsepower pump and updated firefighting gear are urged after Saturday’s blaze gutted the Michael building owned by J T Michael and I D Hurd. No insurance was carried. mayor Fred Spies declares April 14 to 19 as cleanup week with penalties for remaining ashes and debris. Firefighters praised for halting the fire within thirty minutes, while residents vow action to prevent future disasters.
