Government officials finalize draft provisions for the national army with Wilson's approval. Drafting method not announced though federal action expected in Washington. Each registered man has a number, which will be telegraphed to districts after selection, with exemptions decided by local boards.

Dale Edsall aged 16 son of Mr and Mrs James Edsall of East Monroe street died this afternoon about 2 30 o clock from diphtheria after a two day illness. He attended city schools and worked in Goshen businesses. He is survived by his parents and burial is set for tomorrow in Oak Ridge cemetery.
The Signal Corps announced the fourth new government flying field will be built at Belleville Illinois, near East St Louis, with Evansville Indiana as a strong candidate for an additional field. The site will house 300 student fliers, two squadrons, and required staff with hangars for 72 planes. Construction starts immediately.

Howard Pew longtime band manager died at North Hudson Hospital in Weehawken New Jersey. He helped popularize Signor Creatore in America and organized early engagements at Winona Lake Goshen Irwin Opera House in 1903 and Bucklen Theater Elkhart. Mrs Pew recently visited Goshen to book talent.

He notes data support the petition and that flat rate customers consume most water while contributing insufficient revenue.
Mrs. John F. Benn of Elkhart died at General hospital from a fractured skull after falling down cellar stairs while visiting Mrs. John Leer of Dunlaps. She was about 30. She slipped while mistaking a cellar door for a bedroom door where her two month old baby slept. Surviving are her husband, a NC machinist, and three children.
John Shank aged 60 a corn cure peddler is under arrest on a charge of insulting girls. Police matron Fay tracked him. Shank long wandered after being a once prosperous South Bend businessman losing his property through dissipation. He served three years in Michigan City penitentiary for criminal conduct with girls in LaGrange County.
Local donors Arthur C. Haslanger and Dr. Fred H. Irwin contributed ten and five dollars respectively to the Red Cross fund. Mishawaka has raised seven thousand five hundred ninety dollars toward a ten thousand dollar goal, with two subscriptions of twenty five hundred and two of one thousand already counted, Goshen receiving half the amount.
