Beach Fire Ravages Town as Firefighters Save Key Buildings

A gasoline light plant exploded at Model Clothing & Shoe Co. starting a rapid blaze that destroyed four businesses and damaged others. Kellogg's concrete building halted spread, saving the Farmers & Merchants Bank and post office area. Total loss about 50 000 with 15 000 in insured amounts. fire response from Wibaux limited by lack of local service. Authorities urge improved city fire protection and note ongoing rebuilding plans for Lovell Bros. and others.

Postoffice Moves to New Quarters in Bank Building

The post office moved into the Farmers & Merchants Bank building last Tuesday, with entirely new fixtures. The setup includes a large money order department, delivery and call windows, and a lock box section with 260 small, 40 medium, and 12 large boxes. The oak furniture mirrors a V pattern and uses top prize locks. Postmaster Brinton plans brick or concrete quarters next spring to improve Beach’s post office.

Twenty Days Jail For Laborers In The Town Case

Marshal Pickett arrested two laborers Saturday night after a report by Thos Kranick. The men were found with stolen goods, were taken before Justice Heath, and sentenced to 20 days in Medora county jail.

Electric Plant Installed for Russell Miller Milling Co

J W McFall of Pierce Wilcox Electric Co Minneapolis arrived Wednesday to begin installing the electric plant for Russell Miller Milling Co The project will be placed in the old mill and wires connected to the new structure later when available

Congregational Church Dedication and Interchurch Talks

The new Congregational church in Keach was dedicated with Rev. E. H. Stickney, Rev. J. W. Brown, Rev. G. J. Powell, Rev. Douglas, and Rev. J. L. Contermine taking part. Trustees invited Beach Methodist services there and would cover light and fuel costs. United Brethren announce Beach services at Prairie View, with Sabbath school, then a move to a new building later. A. F. Landis reports Beach as a promising location for A. G. E. Langbein to pursue mercantile business, considering relocation from Hebron after reviewing grounds.

Interstate Fair at Beach Draws Wide Support

The first annual Interstate Fair of Billings County ends on a strong note with robust crowds promoters and exhibitors pleased. Festival highlights include rich fruit and vegetable displays, two pens of cattle, sheep and hogs, draft horses and poultry. Exhibits by Overstad t and Hoyerson hardware, Stone Piano Co Fargo and Golden Valley Clothing Store attract attention. Several horse races and purses are listed with best times. A newborn girl to Mr and Mrs Herman Brown and local news items round out the coverage.
