New Postmaster Takes Charge In Farmers & Merchants Bank
J. W. Brinton received his commission from President Taft last Tuesday and assumed duties at the post office the same day. The office will remain in its current quarters until new fixtures arrive, likely before August. The A shaped fixtures with 520 call boxes, general delivery, money order, and other features will be installed in the Farmers and Merchants Bank building. Finishes will be golden oak and cost over $1000, improving third class office standards. Paul Smith and Miss Doyle will assist in the office.

Lightning Strikes Man and Mortally Wounds Horse at Medora
In Medora Tuesday evening D. F. Olmsted was struck by lightning while leading a horse into a barn. The horse died instantly, pinning Olmsted beneath. He suffered an electrical burn on a hand, lay unconscious about thirty minutes, and was later taken to Dickinson for treatment. Mrs. Olmsted and Willis Follis accompanied him. Olmsted recovered enough to retire Wednesday, reporting soreness but feeling well. The article notes the mane’s resistance limited damage. The St Olaf College band of forty five will visit Beach two weeks from tomorrow for open air concerts in the morning and evening. McCumber endorses Taft tariff stance and aims for near free lumber

Crossing to be Opened on Grant Street Depot Area
