Armstrong Catholic parish history from 1890s era in Iowa
The Armstrong area grew from incorporation around 1890 named for Thomas Armstrong, with St Mary’s parish forming as a mission in 1893. Masses served nearby towns until 1895 when a church opened. a fire in 1918 led to rebuilding completed in 1921. Parish life included early charter members, baptisms, weddings, and priests through 1970s, plus the 1967 parish center and 1975 rectory.

Sibley CDA court number 1540 at 90 Sibley Court An drew was organized June 16, 1950 with 48 charter members. Miss Anna Baxter state regent instituted the new court. First officers listed include Grand Regent Delorous Wagner and Regent Shirley Klosterman. Mass of Thanksgiving noted as debt free after parish dinner March 7 1977. Present officers and membership 90. Activities include weekly nursing home Rosary and Mother Daughters Banquet sponsorship.
