Blessed Sacrament Parish Roots in Sioux City History
The Blessed Sacrament parish formed from Cathedral in 1922 with Father Coghlan as first pastor. Initial Masses and baptisms occurred at North Junior High, St. Joseph Mercy aid, and a rectory site at 3012 Jackson. By 1924 a combined church and school opened at 31st Jackson with ongoing debt and Dominican sisters. Construction of a new church began 1954 and the completed church held its first Mass in 1955.
