Sacred Heart Parish of Boone Iowa History Recap
The Boone Roman Catholic Church traces its roots to 1860 with Father Marsh’s discovery of two Catholic families in Boonesboro. A succession of pastors, church moves, and school development culminated in the 1950s with the Ryan High School name honoring Msgr. Ryan and the Sisters of Charity teaching at Sacred Heart.

Mapleton Catholic Parish Story of Growth and Golden Jubilee
The Mapleton Catholic community traces its organized roots to 1894 with land bought for 400 dollars and the first church built by local merchants. Under pastors from Wienhold to Wagener, and later Dries and Ocken, large-scale building, a convent and a new school were added, leading to a 1944 Golden Jubilee debt liquidated and a vibrant parish with five weekend masses and a 700-family roster. Continuous expansion included Sacred Heart and St. Mary’s activities, the parish center, bingo, and St. Mary’s Mission Church, reflecting decades of growth, community service, and evolving facilities.
