Group Votes To Push Recreational Project
About 40 citizens met at the Palace Theatre to hear plans for a recreation center on the Jiggs Branham tract six miles west of town. Walter Ernst chaired the steering committee. members discussed a $215,000 project including a lake, nine hole golf course, club house and roads with federal FHA loan aid upon 200 memberships at $100 and $6 monthly dues. An additional meeting is set for next Tuesday at 7 30 PM to push the membership drive.

Public Budget Hearing Set Monday Morning in Somervell

Granddaughter of Mrs Miller buried at Cisco
Elizabeth Ann Wallace 21 of Houston died in a two car crash near Temple Friday night. Julius Kay Pagan 23 of Houston also died in the same crash. Two Fort Hood soldiers were injured in the other car. Wallace was en route to Cisco to visit her mother Mrs Forbes L Wallace. Funeral at First Presbyterian Cisco with Oakwood Cemetery interment. Survivors include brother Lee Wallace at Texas A M and sister Kay Wallace of Cisco.

Countywide Brucellosis Cattle Testing Begins in Somervell

Four Arrested in Canton Burglary Ring
Sheriff Strawn said four suspects three men and a woman were arrested by Dallas police and indicted on burglary charges in Canton. They are in Van Zandt County jail and also wanted in Junction and Dallas for the Glen Rose Furniture burglary. Four guns a TV an RCA console a hand mixer and 13 radios were recovered with Mann noting loss fell from about 900 to 100. After Canton trial the group will be moved here for trial.

First Coon Dog Show Draws 350 At Glen Rose
About 350 people from 25 towns attended Glen Rose's first annual coon dog show on Labor Day. 65 dogs entered contests and 300 diners enjoyed barbecue and sides at noon. Association president Lloyd Locke praised the site and pledged a return next year.
