Attendance was good at the morning and evening services with Brother Sanders delivering both sermons. Visitors included Mr. and Mrs. Harry Grimmitt of Azle and Charlene Arons with Don Rena and Bettie from Austin. WMU events and Bible School plans noted, with several local families mentioned in Arlington and Georges Creek.
The Homemaking Department announces Wednesday afternoon sewing demonstration classes in June from 2 09 to 4 00. Child care and development classes for young mothers run Tuesdays 2 00 to 3 30. Look for more information in the Reporter next week.
Mrs J B Odom who recently returned from California where she spent the winter had visiting her last week her son and wife Mr and Mrs Joe B Odom of Duncan Oklahoma.
The Bosque County Farm Bureau held its monthly meeting May 19 in the Walnut Springs school gym after a covered dish supper. A program and business session followed, featuring a Social Security film shown by Mr. Al Bradzen.
A bridal shower honoring Mrs. Thompson was held Tuesday evening May 15 at the home of Mrs. Don Hill. Hostesses included Mrs. Irvine Brown Hunter Autry Baker Mullen Howeth Bridewell and Houghtelling with seventy five guests from Granbury and local families attending.
Bob Meaders son of Dr and Mrs W E Meaders will receive his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Dallas on June 1 He is a Glen Rose High School graduate and holds a Bachelor of Science from Southern Methodist University He has been commissioned as an ensign in the U S Navy and will intern at the U S Naval Base in San Diego California He and his wife and daughter Teresa will move to San Diego after June 1
Mrs R L Flippin hosted a Saturday tea at her home honoring Linda Layne a Glen Rose High School senior. Red and white school colors appeared in decor with a red rose May pole centerpiece and miniature graduate figurines. Mrs Bill Meaders and Mrs Herman Layne served. Linda received a corsage and a gift from the hostess.
Wendell McPherson son of Mr and Mrs Wallace McPherson dominated the 1958 59 school year as champion sow. The sow bore 14 pigs and raised 12 with a total litter weight of 463 pounds at eight weeks. His sponsor was Tankersleys Grocery. Other students benefitting from local business sponsors include Penny Eddy Franklin Roberts Tommy Gosdin John Stout. Farm shop winners include Tommy Gosdin Earl Howeth Tommy Mann with 42 boys producing gun racks end tables coffee tables book shelves lawn chairs. Soil Water Conservation winners David Barclay and Gary Westmoreland recognized for land and grass judging excellence.
Miss Linda Livestone of Glen Rose High receives brunch honors at a May 16 gathering hosted by her sisters Mrs. Sharon Woodard and Mrs. Billie Jean Payne at 12709 Killian Fort Worth. Guests included Nancy Gaither Margaret Meaders Joyce Magee and Mrs. L E Firestone. The group shopped after a red and white decorated event.
Last week Mr. and Mrs. Earl Proffitt hosted guests including Mr. and Mrs. Mapier of Fort Worth Mr. and Mrs. Lee Madison and baby of Austin Brother and Mrs. Dodson and her parents Mr. and Mrs. Lumpkin visited. Marvin Clary of Cleburne called on W. M. Reeves. Silas Mann and family spent Sunday in Waco with relatives.
Miss Minnie Walker and Miss Louelly Bivins of Glen Rose will join about fifty graduates at Decatur Baptist College in the sixtieth anniversary commencement. Exercises take place in the First Baptist Church auditorium Decatur on Thursday May 28 at 7 30 p m. Dr. Thomas H. Taylor will be guest speaker.
In the hospital Wednesday May 20 are Mrs W M West Mrs Dorothy King Mrs Effie King Mrs Ruth Hieronymus Mrs W F Yelverton Walnut Springs Mrs J R Carlton Walnut Springs Mrs Vicie Gilbreath. Dismissed include ie 2% Tuesday Mrs E G im Tuesday Jerry Morris Monday Edward Burren. Sunday Harry Bell suffered an injured foot when a piece of wire pierced his foot while operating his lawn mower.
Sunday May 31 homecoming and dinner at the Church of Christ in Glen Rose. Brother C. Buchanan will lead both services. Everyone is invited to attend.
Miss Louise Thomas, daughter of Mrs. H. A. Thomas of 513 N Anglin St Cleburne, will marry Mr. Chester Raifsnider tonight at the bride’s aunt’s home 312 Turner St Cleburne. The groom, son of Mrs. C R Raifsnider of Glen Rose, is in the U S Army in Japan and will rejoin his unit after the ceremony.
