Twenty-Three Seniors to Graduate at High School Commencement

The Class of 1959 at Santa Anna High School will receive diplomas in a 8 p.m. ceremony in the school auditorium. Linda Layne is valedictorian with 97.4 average and Margaret Meaders is salutatorian with 97.1. George Stout leads boys’ top marks and plans to attend North Texas State College.

School Board Accepts Resignations in Glen Rose ISD

The Glen Rose Independent School District board accepted resignations of several staff including W. A. Underwood science instructor Lella Mimms lunch room worker Olan Crites bus driver and James Lett school secretary. Lois Davis was chosen to fill the lunch room vacancy. The board plans to join a Federal Program and seek about 3500 in federal aid for equipment over two years and discussed delinquent tax collection with attorney G A Day.

Pink and Blue Party Honors Mrs Bridges Jr

Mrs Jack Bridges Jr was honored at a pink and blue party held Friday night May 15 at Mrs Bill Pruitts home. Twenty guests attended and were served finger sandwiches cookies and nuts. Favors were miniature pink and blue diapers.

The senior ceremony at Glen Rose High School Auditorium features an all female senior group with Jeanne Sexton as pianist and Jeannie Sexton as accompanist. The program includes a graduation day ceremony with a recessional and benediction. Senior class officers include Mr H A Hunter and Robert Hulsey. The event begins at 8:00 PM with performances of War March of the Priests Mendelssohn and a valedictory Beyond the Blue Horizon.

Landscape Painting Course Offered by Mas Artist

Clean Up Paint Up Week Planned by Glen Rose City

The City Council designates the first week of June as Clean-Up Paint-Up Week in Glen Rose. City trucks will collect trash, small limbs, grass, and weeds left by homes. Schedule lists downtown Tuesday June 8, residential east Paluxy Wednesday June 8, Cyclone area Thursday June 4 and Friday June 5. Place refuse at curb for pickup. Cooperation urged.

Homemaking Classes Schedule Updated For Summer

The homemaking department shifts to a 10 month schedule with Mrs Engleman working only early June and late August. Adult classes this summer run in June. Understanding Your Baby for young mothers will meet June 2 4 and 9 from 200 to 400. Sewing classes June 8 5 and 10 from 200 to 400. Materials provided for child care. bring scissors tape measure pins and a pattern for a simple dress or blouse. A boy s shirt will be made on the last day.

Donkey Ball Game and Local Events Next Week

CHUN hosts donkey ball Monday night at 8:00 at the ball field. A pig auction is set for Saturday May 30 at the Ag Building. First National Bank closes Saturday May 30 for Memorial Day and Wednesday June 3 for Jefferson Davis Birthday. Clean-up Week is next week. The Sportsmans Club plans a family picnic Tuesday at 6:30 at Gibbs Roadside Park. Glen Rose Homecoming is Sunday June 28 and Rock Creek Homecoming is Sunday June 7.
