Lowell S. Orr known as Sammie re-enlists in the Air Force for six years after a completed tour of service. He is the son of the Sam Orrs of Glen Rose and Betty Mullins of Nemo. Their daughter Cynthia Jean is four months old.

Troop 440 Boy Scouts organize with 29 members

Boy Scout troop 440 forms under Scoutmaster Paul Bone meeting every Tuesday at 7:15 pm. There are 21 in the Boy Scouts and 8 in the Explorer group with 29 members total. Registration 50 cents yearly, dues 10 cents weekly, yearly budget allocates insignia, Good Turn Fund, Troop supplies, Boys Life and more. Methodist Men Receive Charter For First Methodist Church

B. Gibson, treated five weeks ago at Scott-White Hospital in Temple, is at home in good condition and plans to return to the hospital in about two months for a checkup.

Somervell County Grand Jury Hears Transportation Complaints

The Somervell County Grand Jury met all day Tuesday May 2 and recessed Wednesday morning. Transportation complaint files from last week were turned over to the grand jury by District Attorney Jim Ferguson, with no report yet. Auditors from the State Department of Education began work on school records led by Wi. C. Love. Former District Attorney John James represents County Judge Hooker.

New Premier Service Station Opens on Highway 67

Whitworth Brothers own and Arnold Whitworth manages the new Premier Service Station offering quality gas oils and car washing in Glen Rose. Nearby, Mrs Norman Gartrell and Mrs J M Mallory open a cafe with short orders and plate lunches inviting local residents to visit.

Wiley Hart Grabs Second in 8 lb Shot at Waco Meet

Wiley Hart, a 190 pound freshman from Wiley, earned second place in the 8 pound shot put at the Waco Jr High Track Meet last Saturday. His distance was 51 feet 4.5 inches, just behind the winner with 51 feet 8.5 inches. Wimmy McKinney reached finals in the 100 and 150 yard dashes with times of 10.8 seconds and 16.1 seconds.
