County health officials announce suspension of polio inoculations while extensive vaccine testing is conducted. New material should arrive in two to three weeks to complete shots for those already started. No repeat of first doses. second shots may delay seven to eight weeks.
Glen Rose post office will close Saturday afternoons starting May 14 1955. Mails will be received and dispatched as usual, with window service curtailed from 12:00 noon. Postmaster W E Porter announces the change.

Hico defeated Glen Rose 13 to 7 Sunday May 8 with Harold Coker homering three times and Kenneth Gibson adding a double and two RBIs. Charlie Stac earned the win over M Rhoden as Hico extended a five game win streak in six starts and Glen Rose prepared to face Tolar next Sunday.

The Palace Theatre will switch to its summer schedule starting Monday May 16. Doors open at 7 15 and the show starts at 7 30 with Saturday and Sunday times unchanged.

Miss Joyce Thompson became the bride of Charles Beck in a five pm service at Glen Rose Church of Christ. The groom is the son of Harley and Mrs Beck of Hico while the bride is the daughter of W H Howeth. Gene Armstrong served as best man and Joyce Armstrong as bridesmaid. They honeymooned in Gulf coastal cities and will reside in Oscoda where Charles is stationed in the armed forces.
Mrs Bill Holland presents a voice recital Saturday May 21 at 7 30 p m in the High School Auditorium. The program features an operetta The Three Billy Goats Gruff with primary age children and High School students sing solos in the second part. Public invited.

Somervell County received 2.45 inches of rain on Tuesday, valued at 50 000 dollars to farms and gardens. The REPORTER gauge showed 2 45 inches, Nemo reported over 3 inches last Friday May 6, and Georges Creek saw rain while Glen Rose had none that time.
The Georges Creek Home Demonstration Club gathered May 5 at Mrs. Faye Keller’s home with six members and three visitors. A poem called Mother was read by Mrs. Hattie Miller followed by songs and a program on Selection and Care of Footwear. Refreshments were served. next meeting is May 17 at Mrs. Mary Russell’s home.
Evangelist J Woodie Holden, Fort Worth, will speak at the senior class baccalaureate in the High School Auditorium Sunday at 8 p.m. Holden, a 1934 Abilene Christian College graduate, has chaired ministries in Midland and Fort Worth, and served soldiers during the war from Camp Barclay to North Park and on Highway 80.
Mr and Mrs E H Hatcher announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter Letha to Cleo Wesley Roe son of Mr and Mrs H W Roe of Roswell New Mexico. Letha is a Glen Rose High School graduate and attends Howard Payne College in Brownwood. Roe is a Roswell Senior High School graduate and is employed in Roswell. The wedding will take place in July.
Tommy Andrews, once a local resident, is spending his vacation here this week. He is the nephew of the late T. K. Matthews and Amos Sadler and now resides in Fresno California.
Lt. Roberson and his wife, son of Valdosta Georgia, spent the past week visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. Keenum. Roberson is stationed at Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta Georgia.
