Cecil Ted Fretwell, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Fretwell, received military honors after being mortally wounded on July 11, 1950 near Taejon, Korea. A Fort Hood military team led the service at Nancy Smith Cemetery, with funeral services held Monday, April 25.
Trudi Ann was born April 3, 1955 at 11 50 a m weighing 6 lb 15 oz. She arrived home April 9. The Thomases invite friends in Glen Rose to visit. Visitors included Mr and Mrs Gibbs Riley Gibbs Mr and Mrs McLemore and Mr and Mrs H encorge.
An annual cemetery working will be held all day Wednesday May 4 at Squaw Creek Cemetery. The event gathers volunteers to tend graves and preserve plots in the local community.
The bereaved Scott Fretwell family expresses gratitude to friends and neighbors for assistance, sympathy, flowers, and kind acts during the loss of their son. May the Good Lord bless you all.
Michael Langston was honored on his fifth birthday with a party at his parents home Mr and Mrs A R Lanceton. After games and present opening guests enjoyed ice cream and cake. Attending were numerous children and adults including Hankie Pruitt Tim Nabors Cathy Summers and Judy Marks along with Mrs Bob Pruitt and others from Cleburne.
A notice states there will be services at the Lanham Mill School building on Sunday night May 1 at 8:00 p.m. James H. Dean is listed as the missionary.
Mr and Mrs O A Corley celebrate the arrival of grandson Danny Walton Tilley, son of Mr and Mrs Walton Tilley of Tohoaka Texas. Mrs Tilley is formerly Corley. The Corleys and Alton Mays recently visited the Tilleys.
John B. Coker of Greenville Texas died Sunday at age 96. He is survived by six sons and one daughter including R G Duncan and C G Coker. He leaves twenty one grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. He frequented Glen Rose and was beloved by friends there.
Glen Rose unit sent two delegates Sandra Gieseckie and Janette Eddy and Homemaking Teacher Mrs J W Shipp to the Texas FHA state convention in Galveston. Four thousand representatives attended at Pleasure Pier with talks by Rev Walter Keer and Lois Oliver. entertainment, meals by Walter Jetton, and sightseeing included Buccaneer Hotel and John Sealy Medical Center. The chapter plans to attend next year in Fort Worth.
Coach Willingham announced that six eighth and ninth grade track team members will travel to Waco Saturday for the Jaycee Junior Track and Field Meet at Waco Municipal Stadium. The event on April 30, 1955 gathers 40 schools with first events at 9 45 a m. Attending boys are Wiley Hart Wallace Thompson Billy Mitchell Gene Ratliff Jimmy McKinney and Jerry Sifford.
Congressman Jim Wright urges Secretary Benson to raise Southwestern Spanish peanut acreage to offset domestic shortages. He notes the Tariff Commission findings of a supply gap and calls for increased marketing quotas and acreage to aid Somervell County growers, with hearings set for April 29.

Complaints filed in Justice of Peace Dan Boone's court after noon April 25 name County School Superintendent ex officio and local school superintendent. Two counts against Judge Hooker with $2000 bond. one count against School Supt. H. B. Patton with $1000 bond. Charges relate to certifying more students rode buses than were actually transported.
Cas Bowman of Iredell died Thursday April 21 in Hillsboro Texas after a long life in Hill and Bosque counties. He was born August 7 1875 near Hubbard City and married Ina Maud Sawyer on October 31 1897. He leaves three children C O Bowman Meridian T O Bowman Camden Ark Ora Smith Walnut Springs, along with grandchildren great grandchildren three sisters and a brother. Funeral service April 22 at the first Methodist Church in Iredell with ministers Rev C E Wade Rev Horace Poteet Rev G M Greebon and burial in Iredell Cemetery. Hico Funeral Home in charge.
The Glen Rose Fire Department thanks supporters for enabling purchase of a county resuscitator. When needed, residents should call the operator just as for a fire alarm. the device will benefit the entire community.
Rev. Thomas B. Granger pastor of First Methodist Georgetown was named executive secretary of the Central Texas Methodist Conference Board of Education at Glen Lake Camp. His duties include Glen Lake camping program, Southwestern University senior assembly, and church worker training. Granger, native of Waxahachie, is married to Elizabeth Shores with two children, Gary and Judy.
A 1954 Ford was recovered here Wednesday at 1 00 a m by City Marshal Paul Bone. The car had been stolen in Oakland Park Fort Worth at 8 p m Tuesday night. Two 14 year old boys were detained here and picked up by Fort Worth Police Department.
Mr and Mrs W A Wilson of Fresno California visited the W N Carter home last week. Mrs Wilson is a sister of Mrs Carter.
The Glen Rose 4-H dairy team, coached by Doyle Cooper and aided by Bill Speed, finished second in the district judging at Tarleton State College last Saturday. Members included Wilbur Vaughn Bob Summers Marva Douglas and Caroline Bohannon. Summers placed third high man. 382 boys competed in dairy cattle judging. It marks the first FFA team representation from Glen Rose in six years.
