Senators Lyndon Johnson and Price Daniel introduced a Senate bill to buy 50 million dollars of Brazos River Authority bonds to finance a dam system on the Brazos River. A companion House bill by Rep Omar Burleson names Bee Mountain DeCordova Hightower Inspiration Point and Turkey Creek dams and allows expanding Possum Kingdom Dam and other Authority projects.
James Willingham was elected president of the Glen Rose Optimist Club at a regular meeting last Tuesday night. Bill Thomas named first vice president and George Simmons second vice president. Robert Boyd reappointed secretary, Moody Booker set at arms, and the board of directors includes Mac McDonald, Kelly Lewallen, J. E. Ward, and Floyd Davis.
The Community School Organization hosts a picnic Tuesday night at the ball field with barbecue provided. All are invited and further details will be announced next week.
Beginning Saturday June 11 the city hall office will be closed all day on Saturdays. The change affects all departments and serves as notice to residents and visitors needing public services.
Rev. R. E. Briggs attends the Central Texas Methodist Conference this week in Fort Worth. Appointments will be read next Sunday. Howard Sego serves as layman from the Glen church.
Somervell County ASC will hold a June 25 referendum on wheat marketing quotas. A two thirds yes vote sets 75 to 82 percent price support. a one third no yields 50 percent parity. Quotas impose penalties on excess acreage. many details depend on farm allotments and state commercial wheat status.
C A Milam head of a longtime Somervell County firm died Saturday June 4 after months of illness. He served as president of First National Bank and of C A Milam and Son and led C A Milam & Co Insurance. A Weatherford native, he helped found Southern Methodist University and supported education and civic causes. He is survived by his wife Louise Wells Milam a son and daughter and several siblings. Funeral services Monday at 10 with Rev R E Briggs. interment Squaw Creek Cemetery.
Loyd Martin son of M-Set and Mrs J D Martin celebrated his first birthday with a party on Saturday June 4 at the home of T-Set and Mrs Chas East in Aguadilla Puerto Rico Stop 116 Military Highway Those present included Set East Mrs Bus ter Lewis Mrs Mary Skelton Linda Paul Mr and Mrs Juan Labadie Juanito Pablo Gisele and Mary Labadie

Eight teams compete in an Optimist sponsored summer softball program with major league squads from Fire Department White's Auto Rives Cafe and Recreation Hall and minor league teams from First National Bank Methodist Church Mac McDonald and Mack Electric. Schedule begins Monday and Thursday at 730 PM with umpire J W Mimms.
Miss Reginell Gill of Cleburne married James Harrison in a Weatherford ceremony on May 27. Harrison received his army discharge on March 17 after two years of service. The couple plans to live in Fort Worth.

District Judge Penn Jackson impanelled a June grand jury on Tuesday June 7. Walter Ernst served as foreman. After two days of deliberation no bill was returned. The panel urged the Commissioners Court to audit county financial records. A cemetery working is planned at Post Oak Cemetery on Thursday morning June 16.
