105 Boys Sign Up For Glen Rose Baseball Program

Glen Rose High School head coach Paul Schuelke reports 105 boys signed for this year’s Little League and Pony League programs. Six Little League teams and two Pony League teams will compete, with teams identified by numbers and sponsored by local businesses and churches. Schedule lists games from June through August with multiple weekly matchups.

PAVILLION PLANNED AT SQUAW CREEK PLOT

Squaw Creek Cemetery Association directors plan a 22 by 28 foot rock and metal pavilion with a corrugated plastic roof at the plot beside the well. The project costs 600 dollars and a construction committee led by Les Elliott will oversee it. The board urges donations from local residents and those with graves in the cemetery to fund the facility.

VFW Post Offers Reflective Bicycle Tape

Glen Rose Memorial Post No. 9180 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars offers fluorescent reflective tape to light bicycles. M. Wilson Lopez holds the tape and invites bicycle owners to visit his courthouse office on Wednesday or Friday afternoons to apply it, urging parents to have their children's bikes taped on front and rear.

Dinosaur Junior Rodeo Set for Saturday Night Show

Burglars Jailed As Area Burglary Cases Solved

Four Whitney burglars were arrested and charged with theft related to the Bill Mullen Texaco Station burglary. Loot including tires and batteries was recovered. W. C. Martindale of Whitney faced bonds, with three minors also charged. Other burglary suspects, Jerry Stewart and James Whitehead, were jailed for car theft and burglary. Local hearings set for district judge.

Center Rental Rates Set by HD Committee

County home demonstration agent Mrs. Sue Brown said the County HD Council with responsibility for the Community Center met recently and set new rental rates. Family reunions and similar events cost 10 dollars per day while parties and other social gatherings are 3 dollars.

Pre School Headstart Programs Begin With Registration

Pre school age students will register Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. for six weeks of summer instruction taught by Mrs Wendell McPherson and Mrs Karl Booker. Classes run Tuesday to Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. This item notes the high school library opening five days a week from 9 to 12 with Mrs Wendell Rozelle as librarian for public use.

Slow showers measured 1.23 inches in Glen Rose on Tuesday, with a 1.40 inch mark noted earlier. May total moisture reached 5.94 inches, lifting May precipitation to 20.17 inches and a year total to 21.40 inches with June activity. Highs reached 93 and lows 55 as farmers hope for more rainfall.
