De Cordova Bend Dam Planning Grant Approved
The Community Facilities Division of the Housing and Home Finance Agency approved a $140,000 advance to the Brazos River Authority to finish preliminary planning and surveying for the De Cordova Bend Dam and power house site on the Brazos River in Hood County near Somervell County. Planning should finish by year end 1962 with construction possible in 1963 if cost estimates stay within the $19 million budget. Amberson Engineering Co. of New York and Houston handles the early planning.

Oral Polio Vaccine Day Planned in Somervell County
On Sunday July 29 the oral polio vaccine will be available at the High School Library from 12 noon to 5 pm in Somervell County and nearby counties Johnson and Tarrant. The shot is free if the 25 cent charge cannot be paid. The program is funded by two county doctors and urges all six weeks old and older to take the vaccine.
