S G Bright of Nemo reported a power outage to the REA after a four foot chicken snake climbed a 30 foot pole and touched a high voltage line, causing the transformer to trip. The reptile was killed and the Brights lost electricity briefly while workers restored service.

Parade and Rodeo Reset for September 2 in Glen Rose
Rain halted the July 4th Round-Up opening events. The Somervell County Livestock and Poultry Association and the Glen Rose chamber postponed the gala parade and junior rodeo to Saturday before Labor Day, September 2, as full weekend plans could not be rescheduled. A gospel session, street dance, and a busy museum and art show followed, with fiddling contests drawing about 1,000 spectators from multiple states. The Pet Parade drew crowds on Tuesday, aided by local club sponsors and prizes from 60 firms, capping the holiday with a Pony League game between Glen Rose and Granbury.
