Parade Chairman Joe Don Echols urges all businesses and organizations in Glen Rose and Somervell County to enter the opening parade on Saturday afternoon. The note highlights local growth, rising post office activity, and a holiday traffic warning with safety tips from Major Harry Hutchison.
Five Glen Rose representatives from Leon Bosque RC&D attended a Dublin meeting to strengthen the regional organization by appointing leaders across five counties. Attendees from Glen Rose included Earl Jackson County Judge Temple Summers Mayor Walter Ernst Jack Bridges Jr and Zack B Evans local SCS conservationist. Jackson announced at the meeting plans for the celebration and broader regional cooperation.
Georgia Lighton of Aspen Colorado, a Nice France native and Aspen newspaperwoman, reports a 3374 mile bicycle journey through Kansas Oklahoma Texas and New Mexico in her sixth western summer trip. In Oakdale Park she met local officials and discussed area programs, while Somervell County gears to host a pilot USDA initiative. The July Fourth Round-Up includes parades rodeo gospel singing art show dinosaur tracks tours, plus a Big program with Little League games and a street dance.
Population indicators show more residents in Glen Rose and Somervell County than ever, with 25 additional post office box rentals and 40 to 50 more rural families. Electrical meter connections rose from 605 to 629 in city limits, while county connections grew from 816 to 855. Water meters increased 25, and water pumped reached 945,000 gallons by mid June, up from 915,000 last August. Tax boards completed equalization work and set hearings for July 10 11 and 13 for dissatisfied taxpayers, with notices to those whose renditions rose by about 90,000 in the county and 45,000 in the school district. The assessor noted several lower renditions and inequities corrected.
The official gauge for the U S Weather Bureau recorded a .32 inch rain Thursday afternoon, measured by T J Davis. The shower aided crops, gardens, and yards across the district from Kaufman to Comanche, spanning at most 16 miles. Month moisture reached 2.78 inches. year total stood at 12.81 inches as of Tuesday afternoon.

Conservationist Irvin Poff notes SCS records will document planned and applied conservation amounts for the area.
Commissioners refused all seven sealed bids to sell about 7.28 acres bordering the Paluxy River near Lanham Mill Cemetery. The court set a minimum of 500 dollars per acre and refunded 85 dollars to Reeves who paid for surveying. A proposed two acre right of way swap was deemed unlawful.
