Two enterprising youths Leoy Bivens and John Noack have invested to open a miniature golf course at Oakdale Park. For 25 cents patrons can enjoy an evening outing as the boys invite the public to visit and see their handiwork this week.
The Reporter thanks readers for subscriptions in June and reports the paper now holds its largest subscriber base in history.

Engagement notice for Norma Stewart and Jimmie Hulsey announced by the Stewarts of Nemo. Jimmie has served in Alaska and is now assigned to a base in New York.
Dale Stafford, former Glen Rose assistant, is promoted to head coach of the Marlin High School Bulldogs. He takes over the program from an earlier assistant role as Mrs. Stafford, the former Ruth Osborn, is noted. Mrs. Bob Spears of Dallas visited her mother, Mrs. Dora Glenn this week.
Air conditioned stores draw shoppers as the town adds cooling. The latest cooling project is the First Baptist Church, a building that could grace a much larger town. Total cost is around $65,000 with only a small portion owed.
Results show Bank 13 corner Drug 12 and Aston 4 Tillman Ins 2 on Thursday. Next week schedule lists Kelleys ees Lego, Tillman, Methodist Corner Drug and Weedon matchups. Standings include Methodist Church 30 Aston Grocery 21 and Tillman Insurance 1 2 with several 0 3 teams in the Little League and softball divisions.
Rainfall for June reached 1.85 inches. Total on record through June stands at 29.13 inches for the year.
Kelley Lewellen owner of Kelley’s Humble Station hosts an open house and formal opening at the Ruby Lane building on Saturday July 6. He leased the property and added repainting and new equipment while Raymond Bunt serves as assistant. Elbert Wilson retains the shop name and moves his auto service to the larger location. Both men invite the public, especially ladies and children, to visit.
Bonnie Sparks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Sparks of Glen Rose, wed Billy Whitworth at 8:30 p.m. in Travis Avenue Baptist Church Ft Worth. Attendants included Miss Jana Whitworth and Miss Betty Skalsky. Otis Moreland served as best man. After a Galveston honeymoon, they will reside in Grandview.
Mr and Mrs Jake Howeth announce the marriage of their daughter Sue to Duane Teague in a June 21 double ring ceremony at Arlington Heights Methodist Church. Duane is son of Mr and Mrs E A Teague of Glen Rose and lives with his bride in Fort Worth at 4013 Eastland.
Mr and Mrs Bill Clark announce the birth of a daughter Debra Lois on Sunday June 30 at the local hospital. The baby weighed 8 pounds 9 ounces. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs John Flanary on the maternal side.
The home of Mr and Mrs H C Cash 6 miles south and west of the town was destroyed by fire Saturday around 6 am The Cash couple were away in Ft Worth on weekdays Investigators searched for the fire cause finding a television knob outside and noting no remaining set in the house Suspected arson prompted an ongoing inquiry
Mr and Mrs Firestone and Linda have returned after a three week trip to California. Mr Firestones mother from Haskell accompanied them.
Mr and Mrs Earl Hamill of Shamrock visited Mr and Mrs B W Hamill Sunday in a family gathering noted in local social news.
The Glen Rose school district finalized rural bond payments saving 40 in interest. At the meeting Supt. McCroskey reported cafeteria finances with 62 291 lunches served and a year-end balance of 298.08. Forty girls entered in the pageant with 100 prize for the senior winner Miss Glen Rose 1957, to go to Cleburne Fair.
The Veterans' Land Board has received 25 355 requests for applications from October 31, 1955 to June 4, 1957. The Veterans Administration plans a test of a new antibiotic Strpetovaricin in its TB chemotherapy program, first isolated from a Dallas soil fungus.
Veterans Administration payments totaling 4377 dollars were issued to Somervell County beneficiaries in five cases for May 1957, including death benefits, allowances, and insurance per the Texas Veterans Affairs Commission report. War Orphans Education Program invites eligible youths to apply for fall enrollment. qualified children of veterans who died in WWI WWII or the Korean War may receive monthly stipends from 110 to 50 dollars depending on course load, with restorative options for disabilities.
James M. Smart husband of the former LaVerne Ethridge died in a San Antonio hospital on June 23. Services were held June 25 with interment at Sunset Memorial Park. He is survived by two daughters. Mrs. Smart is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Peterson of Glen Rose.
