Four Suspects Arrested After Armed Robbery Near Cleburne

Sheriff Frank Laramore and officers arrested four suspects Saturday at a gas station six miles west of Cleburne on Highway 67 after a robbery at Jerry's One-Stop Center. Victim Bill Brown described pistol- whippings and the theft of about $40 to $45. Dallas men Alton Roy Moore 31 and William Henry Pitts 33 faced armed robbery charges by the district attorney.

Cecil Wood announced this week that catalogs for the annual Junior Livestock Show are nearing completion and booth or booster ads must be submitted to the First National Bank by noon Saturday. He noted rapid plans and that three area locker plants Meridian Frozen Food Locker Granbury Locker Plant and C&R Meat Processing Plant would process animals sold at the show. This aims to attract more buyers by enabling quick delivery to lockers the day after the sale so animals can be butchered and frozen for deep freeze storage.

Laramore Reports Found Calf Head and Hide

Sheriff Frank Laramore said a Hereford-Angus crossbred calf head and hide were found along a public road on the Gaston Shumate Ranch southwest of town. He estimated the carcass weighed 350 to 500 pounds and suspected the animal was butchered elsewhere Monday. Mrs. Sadie Norman visited Aledo with her son and his family and they later joined Lynn Norman of Arlington to attend the Fort Worth Stock Show Rodeo.

Chamber Banquet Tonight in Glen Rose

Glen Rose-Somer County Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual banquet at Glen Lake Methodist Camp dining hall tonight. Don Newbury delivers a keynote on From Adam's Rib to Women's Lib, and the Connie Award is presented for Dinosaur Valley State Park honors. Tickets are $2.50 at the chamber office.

262 License Plates Sold In Three Days

County tax official Frank Laramore reported 262 sets of license plates sold last week. Ira Plummer bought the first plates when the office opened Thursday. Sales included 162 passenger car plates 75 pickup and farm truck tags and 25 assorted plates for trailers motorcycles and other tags.

Wildlife Screening at Palace Theatre This Saturday

Glen Rose District Seeks $475000 Bond For New Elementary

Voters will cast ballots Saturday February 17 on a 475000 bond request to fund a new kindergarten through eighth grade elementary building. The district, aided by Texas Utilities Services, expects 90 percent of taxes paid by 1982 to come from the utility group, with 325000 issued this year and 150000 to be sold later. The plan includes a single roof, central heat and air, movable interior walls, a junior science lab, library, lunchroom, restrooms, and expanded rooms to accommodate growth.

Illnesses Reach Epidemic Rate In This Sector

Illnesses including flu pneumonia and respiratory viruses have reached epidemic proportions in the Glen Rose area causing widespread absences from jobs and school. Tuesday absenteeism totals 75 students, 13 percent, with three teachers absent. The second grade shows the heaviest impact with 11 absences.
