In a regular meeting the Glen Rose Independent School District trustees unanimously called a bond election for 475000 to build and equip schools. If approved 325000 would fund a new elementary building with 150000 later for a band hall bus shop and two high school classrooms.

Local couple and child die in Mexia area auto crash
Mr and Mrs Jerry T Burle, aged 27 and 19, and their three year old daughter died in a late night automobile accident near Mexia. A one year old daughter survived. The family had moved to Glen Rose from Mexia and were in the process of moving belongings when the crash occurred. Burle was to start work on the Squaw Creek Reservoir project. No further details were available at press time.

New License Plates Go On Sale Today
1973 license plates went on sale at the office of the County Tax Assessor Collector today. All vehicles must display new plates by April. The office will open Saturdays this month and until noon on Saturdays until April 1 to help the public. Mrs Charles Marsh has been hired part time to assist in the office during the busy period.

Fort Worth Teen Injured In Highway 67 Crash
Fort Worth teenager Caroline N Hudson fourteen suffered deep lacerations to feet and legs when her 1972 Toyota ran off Highway 67 and struck a tree about 40 miles west of Fort Worth. The wreck, investigated by Patrolman Bob Brock, involved a crowded car with two boys. Hudson was treated at a local hospital and released to her parents the same day.

Randall Talley Captures Grand Champion at Fort Worth Show
Randall Talley, son of Mr and Mrs Charles Talley, won first place in the Junior Show and rode Vicki Tiberius C2 to Grand Champion in the Junior Division at the American Polled Hereford Association Golden Anniversary Show in Fort Worth. Talley, a Somervell County 4-H member and fourth grade student, earned the first major junior-show win for his county. Lisa Dehran placed 10th with her Polled Hereford heifer in the same division.

The Glen Rose region saw winter conditions with rain and snow over the past week led by 1.25 inches of precipitation. Temperatures ranged from a high of 61 degrees to a low of 16 degrees with heavy snow Thursday evening that melted quickly. Obie Lowery was buried at Ward Branch Cemetery Thursday after a 2 p.m. service at First Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Dewayne Finley. He was the son of Mae Lowery of Glen Rose and died in an Austin hospital.
