James Ward Gibbs arrived Sunday February 3 at 10 12 p m at Marks-English Hospital weighing 7 pounds 9 ounces. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Charles Gibbs with grandparents Mr and Mrs Ward Pinson and Mr and Mrs G C Gibbs and great grandparents Mr and Mrs A R Hawkins of Ft Spunky. Mother and baby were dismissed from the hospital Thursday. The father and grandfather are still a little hazy.

County Agent Doyle Cooper Delivers Broad Agricultural Program
In 1962 Doyle Cooper worked with nearly every Somervell County family and touched over 60% of farms. He distributed 1500 bulletins and leaflets, led pruning and parasite demonstrations, and tested fertilizer and peanut use. The 4-H program held nine meetings in schools and four at the courthouse, with livestock shows and camps. The 4-H Land Judging team placed 5th nationally in Oklahoma City. Boys managed crops and livestock including 10 acres peanuts, 62 cows, 91 goats, 116 sheep, 32 rabbits, and hundreds of poultry. Cooper served as County Savings Bond Chairman and on multiple boards, aiding farmers with calf and pig production and county development plans.
