In Glen Rose district 215 voters chose three trustees five candidates sought the seats. Elected were incumbents Billy C. Miller Maurice Marsh and newcomer James D Sparks replacing Roger E Marks. Sparks led with 157 votes Marsh 89, Miller 198 with write ins for Bridges Gibson and Evans. Burt Willey won county seat for Precinct 1. no vote for Modawell in Precinct 3.

The Glen Rose Optimist International chapter will hold its first oratorical contest for boys 15 and under on Saturday April 11 at 7 p m in the high school auditorium. Glen Rose High to Open Season With Practice Game
Glen Rose High School boys baseball team will start the season with a practice game against Stephenville here Tuesday at 3:30 at the local diamond. A return game is set for April 16 in Stephenville. Fifteen players are on the squad as Coach Paul Schuelke schedules additional practices before the district tournament in Cleburne May 5.

A cold front brought showers totaling .66 inches and a 44 degree low. The disappearance of county official Bone triggered a state manhunt and an embezzlement charge for $20,000. A temporary replacement was appointed and law enforcement shifted to Ranger control as the search continued. Bone, a four child father, faces reelection in the Democratic Primary on May 4.

Langdon Visits Glen Rose on Campaign Trail
Big Jim Langdon a Glen Rose resident and Texas Railroad Commissioner campaigned in town on a sentimental stop. He toured a Langdon family home by the Paluxy River and met old friend Lewis Gresham before a Friday reception. Langdon's background includes Tarleton College UT law degree FBI service Navy officer district judge and Chief Justice of the Civil Court of Appeals Highth District. He now seeks his first elective term on the railroad commission.

GRHS Students Reach Heights in U L Literary Meet
Seventeen Glen Rose High School students competed at Baylor University in Waco for District 13 A Literary contests. Don Baker Tours With Ranger Junior College Band
Don Baker son of Mr and Mrs Weldon Baker of Glen Rose is on tour with the Ranger Junior College concert band and choir. The group left campus April 3 and will return April 10, performing 12 concerts in as many high schools from Houston to the area. Baker, a 1963 Glen Rose High School graduate and RJC freshman, majors in musical education with a minor in applied music and was named Glen Rose High School’s outstanding band member. Ray Miles of Cleburne visited Glen Rose Tuesday morning.
