Funeral services for Burnett Dick Jennings aged 65 were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Erman Smith Funeral Chapel Pittsburg. Interment followed in Sunset Memorial Cemetery Gilmer. He died Monday morning in a Gilmer hospital after a long illness.

Nu Way plans grocery gas station and store at Main Street
Work began at 227 S Main to clear land for a Nu Way convenience grocery and self serve gas station. A 100 by 45 foot building is planned under the direction of Nu Way president Billy Delp. Demolition of the prewar structure started Monday. construction should begin within 60 days.

Open house runs 2 to 5 p.m. with public tours. Attending are Dr. AR Qureshi cardiologist and Dr. Mike Ellis dentist for the opening. Dr. S Singh of Somers Connecticut will arrive in Dallas at 2 p.m. and go to Gladewater. Work will begin soon on two more offices for a general surgeon and an obstetrician gynecologist.

Carter Farms Quality Meat at 120 N Center St will hold a 9 am Thursday ribbon cutting marking its opening as a wholesale and retail processing business. Owner John A. Carter, a Gladewater native, with wife Alma operates the site north of Big Sandy. The facility offers slaughter to packaging, Country Fresh housebrand, baked goods, eggs, smoked meats, and sheltered parking. The business employs seven people.

Arts and crafts show expands to 85 booths at Broadway campus
The second annual Chamber of Commerce Arts and Crafts show will be held Saturday and Sunday Sept 27-28 at Broadway school campus with at least 85 participants. City provided trash cans will be decorated by the GHS FTA. Jaycees praised for work on Aframes. Chamber men to run snacks and drinks. FTA to host barbeque Sunday. Estimated attendance expected to exceed 10,000 from last year. Also announced Halloween carnival Nov 1 at Round Up Rodeo grounds and a city map project progress. Open house Sept 28 for new doctors office near Medco Pharmacy with office spaces for three physicians and a dentist. A new look is planned by July 4, 1976.
