CofC to Sponsor Crime Seminar

The Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a crime prevention seminar focusing on retail impacts. Gladewater Police Department and the Small Business Administration will lead a 90 minute program with two films and a discussion featuring county and city law enforcement. The event is September 14 at 7 30 p.m. in the Chamber building with no admission charge.

No Smoking Signs Placed At City Hospital

City hospital posts no smoking signs in multiple areas including surgery emergency and ICU suites. Smoking restricted to designated lobby areas on first and second floors. patient rooms and bed areas require physician approval for certain patients. staff must not smoke in contact with patients or the public.

Street dance plans shift to Broadway if rain hits

Rain or shine Muscular Dystrophy benefit street dance moves to Broadway in Gladewater if wet weather. On Sunday night the event starts at 9 p.m. with two bands at the Rodeo headquarters or Broadway school gym. Proceeds aid the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Labor Day activities include telethon, door to door collection, and police car rides for children.

Public meeting on Gladewater Lake road plan set

Lease holders at Gladewater Lake and interested residents will meet at JC Park at 3 p.m. Sunday to discuss a $100000 road upgrade for 6.2 miles. City manager Tony Williams says the cost will be shared equally among leasees, with each paying about $400 over three years, though exact figures are disputed.

Tax re evaluation underway in city and district

The city and school district are mid phase in a $50,000 property tax revaluation program led by Bill Pratt of Pritchard & Abbott Inc. Revaluations in the city start first with completion targeted for early spring. the school district follows by late summer 1977. About 5,538 parcels will be inspected with total district valuation around $126.34 million.

Shrine Circus Arrives in Gladewater for Weekend Shows

The Shrine Circus rolled into Gladewater with four performances on Saturday and Sunday. Show times are 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Sunday with tickets from Shriner members or at the gate.
