City Council Approves Immunity Resolution Amid Lawsuit

Minter guilty of wife’s death in Gladewater shooting

Joseph Cullen Minter Jr. 29 of Gladewater was sentenced to five years in prison after a jury found him guilty of murder without malice in the June 26 shooting death of his wife Joann at her father’s home on Lake Gladewater. Neighbor Grover Knight testified he heard a gunshot and saw Minter leave with the body. Dr. Walter Hart said Minter admitted shooting his wife and transporting her to the hospital. Minter claimed the gun fired accidentally during a confrontation. In a separate note, Patrick G Reynolds, 52, was fined 133 for stealing kitchen items from a department store in Johannesburg.

FFA project show opens with winners named at Union Grove

The Union Grove FFA Chapter Project Show began Saturday under bright skies. Clara Lou Hogue won the FFA Sweetheart title. James Pittman captured the market size pig. Grand Champion Swine went to Paul Copeland with David Beavers as reserve. Poultry Grand Champion was David Beavers, with Paul Copeland as reserve. Ricky Wallace had the Grand Champion rabbit.
