County leases city's airport for regional backup plan

Gregg County has signed a 30 year lease with Gladewater for the Gladewater Municipal Airport at 30000 dollars to back up Gregg County Airport and aid radar installation. The deal also positions the county for possible regional airport designation and includes land nearby for future industrial use.

Big Sandy hosts World Wide Church of God Feast crowd

The World Wide Church of God begins its Feast of Tabernacles at Ambassador College Big Sandy with 11,900 members expected to travel to 12 sites in the U.S. and Canada. Organizers project over 96,200 attendees worldwide, with Herbert W. Armstrong and Garner Ted Armstrong among visiting leaders, and about 9,000 at Pineland and Lake Loma on campus. The event spans Oct. 10 to Oct. 18 and could boost the local economy by 1.5 to 2 million dollars.

4-H awards honor Gregg County youth and leaders

Gregg County 4-H members and leaders were honored at the Contessa Inn for the annual 4-H Awards Banquet during National 4-H Week. Gold Star Award recipient Rhonda Gayle Hill of Gladewater received a $500 scholarship and a Chicago trip. Debra Hughes won the Danforth Award, Lucille Clark was named W D McQueen Award recipient, and over 50 medals and ribbons were presented.
