Gladewater High seniors to receive diplomas Friday night
Ninety four Gladewater High School seniors will receive their diplomas in commencement exercises Friday night at 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Baccalaureate services will be held in the auditorium at 8 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Elmer Kelley delivering the sermon. The Baccalaureate program lists processional, scripture, prayers, music by the high school choir, and benediction. The graduating class includes Paula Jo Alderson, Mickey Lois Allen, Carmen Chiquita Lea Armstrong, Eddie Dean Arnold, and many others. Local health officials report a single case of spinal meningitis in Glade water, involving a seven-year-old first grader at Gay Avenue School admitted to Municipal Hospital. prophylactic treatment advised for contacts.

Mrs. H Mantooth Dies at 60 in Gladewater
Funeral services for Mrs Herbert Mantooth aged 60 were held Friday at 3 p.m. at Malcolm Stone Funeral Chapel with Rev. Elmer Kelley and Rev. A J Gibson officiating. Burial followed in Ebenezer Cemetery, Pittsburg. She resided in Gladewater 20 years, born July 5, 1908 in Camp County, died on arrival from a heart attack Wednesday. Survived by husband, two daughters Ethel Weir and Clara Broussard, two grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers. pallbearers named.
