Gladewater Rotary Club awarded the C. Q. Abernathy Award to Union Grove High School seniors Susie Bailey and Steve Horn. President Ernest Martin presented the honors in a school assembly. Bailey is a longtime FHA member and former football sweetheart with multiple school roles and recognitions.

Funeral services for Mrs. Carrye A. See, 70, of 700 West Clair, will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Malcolm Stone Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. G. B. Endsley officiating. Burial follows at Richland Cemetery in Richland, Texas, at 5 p.m. She died Friday morning at 8:30 after an apparent heart attack at her home. She was a retired cook for Hart Clinic Hospital, a Baptist, and a native of Richland. Survivors include daughter Dorothy Rimmer of Houston, son Guy Pennington of Henderson, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
