Tenure pins presented at banquet for school employees
Twelve Gladewater school staff members including supervisors custodians bus drivers and cafeteria workers were awarded tenure pins for 5 10 15 and 20 years at a Friday banquet in the high school. Pamela Sue Davis of Gladewater graduates with honors at SFA spring commencement May 15 with a GPA of 3.54, part of a 116 honor student class of about 1,000. SFA President Dr Ralph W Steen will speak and confer degrees. 15 students earn highest honors 39 high honors and 62 honors. The event featured entertainment by Phil Huckabee and was hosted by School Superintendent Roy Johnson.

Mulanax Dismisses 71 Cases in Texas Court
Judge Virgil F. Mulanax of the 115th District Court in Gilmer dismissed 71 cases ages three and four years old in a wave of dismissals after warning attorneys to show cause by April 28. The set included 30 divorce cases 31 other civil cases nine delinquent child cases four personal injury and four non-adversary proceedings.

TJC Summer Registration At Tyler Junior College
Tyler Junior College opens summer session registration at 8 am May 28 in Jenkins Hall. Day and evening slots run 8 am to 12 noon and 6 pm to 5 pm to fit employed students. Gladewater Rotarians welcomed Gregg County Agent Cliff Caskey who outlined the District Five 4 H Horsemanship school and camp set for July 26 31. The five day program at the Gladewater rodeo arena Camp Natowa costs participants 50 with instruction in showmanship judging grooming saddle care plus swimming volleyball horseshoes and other activities evenings feature a western dance and a final instructional show with critiques for riders.
