Gladewater city council will meet in regular session Thursday night at 7 30 at city hall to consider 11 items on the agenda. Open bids on a police car and a pickup truck. Gladewater HS honors 117 graduates at May commencement

Gladewater High School will award diplomas to 117 seniors in a May 28 ceremony at Bear Stadium. Valedictorian Shane Best, salutatorian Peggy Herrmann, and historian Jay Rowe lead a large class with 33 honor graduates and 27.3 percent on the distinguished list.

Funeral Rites Held for Mrs Verna L. Little

Funeral services for 89 year old Verna L. Little longtime Ladewater resident were held Tuesday at 2 pm at Malcolm Stone Funeral Chapel with Rev. Royce Robb of Longview officiating. Interment followed in Memorial Park. She lived at West Quitman and had resided in the Pine Tree Nursing Home Longview after a December fall. A Nashville Arkansas native and housewife, she belonged to First United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sisters Mrs Hugh Harrison and Mrs Norma Loflin of Little Rock Ark a dear friend Mrs Erma Grantham and Rex Grantham of Longview. Pallbearers were Dick Grayson Roy Pynes Jack Burnside C E McMillen Bruce Dubose and Taylor Job with honorary pallbearers Rusty Daniels E B Ballard Rusty Roberts Wilson Godfrey M Ho Stewart.

Gladewater Considers Rodent Control Program Plan

City Manager Tony Williams met with a U S Fish and Wildlife representative to outline a rodent control program in Gladewater. Vince Hoechten from Texas Rodent and Predatory Animal Control Service offered to hold meetings to discuss eradication methods and to assist residents through the Public Works Office with inquiries and visits every two weeks.
