The Chamber of Commerce outlines details for the 35th Round-Up Rodeo June 14 to 17 with contests including window decorating Dress Western Week and parade entries. Union Grove honors 37 graduates in May 26 ceremony

Thirty seven seniors receive diplomas at Union Grove graduation May 26 at 8 p.m. Valedictorian Karen Turner has 96.61 average and multiple honors. Salutatorian Lela Davis holds 92.93 with numerous school office roles. Terry Williams, top male student at 92.20, is co director of the Senior Musical and has held leadership roles in FFA and student council. Hawkins Jarvis College and National Alliance seminar in Jarvis spotlights staying in school with Jethro Pugh as guest speaker.

Union Grove seniors stage riverfront variety show

The Union Grove Senior Class presents River front a fast moving variety show in the school auditorium on May 11 and 12 at 8 pm. Tickets cost 1.00 for adults and 0.50 for children under six with proceeds for the senior class trip. The program features singing dancing and performances by Kilgore College cheerleaders and local students with multiple acts and intermission. Wayne Smith and Terry Williams co produce the show with a cast including Deb Thompson Molly Smith and Donna Youngblood among others.

Mrs Maggie Williams R I P 91

Mrs Maggie R Williams 91 died after a lengthy illness at Oak Manor Nursing Home. A Gladewater resident for 30 years she was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Longview. Services were held at Malcolm Stone Funeral Chapel with Rev M H Baird officiating and burial in Sardis Cemetery. Survivors include two sisters, five sons, three daughters, 20 grandchildren 35 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
