Rat attack on Union Grove student ends at home
Union Grove High School sophomore Don Pankhurst found a yellowish brown rat under his car seat. The rat bit his wrist and he was rushed to Gladewate Municipal Hospital where first aid was given. A pathologist later confirmed the rat was not rabid and Don returned home to Mings Chapel.

Robbers hit bus station in afternoon theft
The bus station at 105 E. Glade Street was robbed by two men who took $55 from manager Helen Purdue after one entered the office. A white over red 1963 Chevrolet with wide tires was described, and a similar vehicle was later linked to an armed robbery in Tyler at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday.

Longview Woman Found Guilty in Embezzlement Case
Mrs Ludie Alice Courtney of Longview was found guilty in U S District Court in Tyler on four of five counts of bank embezzlement. Four false loans totaling 5679 were made under fictitious names J B White and Don Langford. Sentence stayed for a pre sentence report.
