Larkin Craig Keoun 85 of 301 Gay Avenue died at 12:40 a.m. Saturday in a local hospital. Funeral services are planned Sunday at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Gladewater.

Funeral rites for Amos L. Wood 85 were held Friday at 2 p.m. in Rader Funeral Chapel Longview with Walter Talley officiating. Interment followed at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. A Gladewater resident since 1931 he previously lived in Electra born in Collin County. Retired from Cities Service Vil Company he headed roustabout work and worked with S&W Repair Shop. Member of North Main and Gay Church of Christ. Survivors include widow Ollie daughter Rita Mae Shaw brother Joe Wood Irving three sisters Dennie Gear Jessie Arie Cleo Legg Bonham and several nieces and nephews.
Gregg County deputy sheriff Daryl Ferguson says no new developments in the Inez Phillips murder inquiry. Joseph Stanely Faulder, 39, and Stormie E. McCann, 33, are jailed without bond on capital murder charges. James Millard Moulton, 43, is held on a $50,000 bond after Longview arrest for conspiracy to commit burglary.
Gladewater Municipal Hospital will have a full weekend doctor in the emergency room by mid May or June 1 under a 90 day trial at 1500 dollars per week. The plan includes a backup on call doctor and may bring in a physician from Shreveport.

Malcolm Kenneth Wiley 57 of 804 Willow Blvd died Friday at Episcopal Hospital Dallas after a week as a patient. Funeral Sunday 4 pm at First United Methodist Church with Rev Leon Grissom officiating. Burial Gladewater Memorial Park. He was executive VP of First State Bank and held multiple community roles. Survived by widow Jo a daughter Mary Jane two sons Malcolm Gordon and Malcolm Kenneth Jr and brother D Gordon. Memorial gifts to Mack Wiley Memorial Fund First United Methodist Church.
Downtown Gladewater faces parking strain on Pacific Street and North Dean due to long waits at the Senior Citizens Center and post office. The lack of enforcement since W M Stokes retirement worsens congestion as visitors and mail customers occupy limited spaces, creating hazards and squeezing storefront needs. An overlooked solution proposes reclaiming on street spaces and restoring a former drop box site to improve turnover and safety.
McCreary and Huey, hired to collect delinquencies for the city and school district, will file suits in June to recover remaining accounts.
