Mitrapab Unique Aid Plan Captivates Thai Crowds
In Samut Songkram a Parachute team led by Col Lewis Millett performs weekly for Thai spectators. The Mitrapab program, begun in 1961 by U.S. Captain Richard Carson and Thai Lt Col Pratib Chaipani, funds new schools across Thailand. It has raised about $300,000 for 72 provinces, though it has claimed lives and left team members injured. Millett notes the danger is part of the mission and that the program provides a meaningful aid route without US taxpayer cost.
