White Oak School Sells Two Properties at Auction
The White Oak School Board sold the abandoned Shiloh School building and a Scout Cabin near Roughneck Stadium for 4001 and 765 dollars respectively. Proceeds fund maintenance. They also awarded Byrd Construction the drainage project east of the campus for 38814.37 with 30 36 and 42 inch pipes and 58000 yards of dirt to be smoothed. Construction to start within 20 days and finish in six months.

Ground Broken For Goodyear Store

Hospital Is Debt-Free Gladewater Board Elects Officers
Fred Lott was chosen president of the Gladewater Municipal Hospital Authority for a year with Wayne Pollard as vice president and Carson Kennedy as past president and treasurer. The board said the last $160,000 in revenue bonds have been retired, leaving the hospital debt-free.

Mrs. Nola Inez Whitted Dies After Illness at 71
Mrs. Nola Inez Dozhier Whitted, 71, died Saturday at 4:30 a.m. after a lengthy illness in a local hospital. Funeral services are set for Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Stone Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Gladewater Memorial Park. A Zenith, Missouri native, she had lived in Gladewater 38 years on the M. D. Shepperd Lease. Her husband T. C. Whitted died in 1951. Survived by daughter Mrs. M. D. Swearingen Sr.. four grandchildren Sidney Weber of St Louis, Mike Swearingen of Dallas, Molly Swearingen of Gladewater, Pat McCloskey of Austin. and three great grandchildren Ricky, Lisa, and Michele Weber.

Melvin L. Jenkins, longtime McKaig Chevrolet executive and Gladewater mayor, becomes administrator of the near completed Gladewater Nursing Home on Money Street beside Memorial Baptist Church.
