Rain soaked bleachers watched Rodeo end its 32nd year as 204 contestants shared $12,915 in prize money. Springtown’s Bob Perkins earned top pay of $797.06 with wins in steer wrestling, and Jim Houston of Omaha captured all around honors with $459.78. Clyde Vamvoras led bareback in the average at 245, while John McBeth and Doug Brown topped saddle bronc averages with 171.50 each. Rich ard Stowers won the bull riding event with 437.73, and Frances Stover led girls barrel racing in the average with 138.66. Sheila Bussey won the first go-round with 138.66.

Mrs. Littie Leuna Holland, 67, of 204 West Waleton, died Monday at 9:30 a.m. in a local hospital after a short illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Nazarene Church with Rev. Bill Grimes and former pastor Rev. M. A. Wagstaff officiating. Burial followed in Friendship Cemetery. Born September 1, 1901 in Alba, Texas, she lived in Gladewater since 1929 and was a Nazarene member. Survivors include husband Brad, two sons Billy Joe and Carl, five daughters Odessa Bearden Trudie Kilman Oleta Kilman Corene Franco Virginia Cohee, two brothers J. W. Williams and Von Williams, one sister Mrs. Robbie Sherwood, 21 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
