Buffalo National River Arkansas Aerial of a Free-Flowing Gem
The Buffalo National River in northwest Arkansas spans 132 miles across four counties rising in the Ozark Mountains and flowing to the White River. With much land still private, the park remains partly nonoperational but offers camping hiking swimming fishing and canoeing with popular points Buffalo Point and Lost Valley. Summer brings guided walks and crafts. canoe rentals run about 10 to 12 dollars a day and upper river is low after June 1. Peak visits are May through September at Buffalo Point. Lost Valley thrives in spring for floating with year round potential elsewhere.

Gladewater Youth Teams Secure Tournaments Wins
The Pirates 9 10 year olds took first at the Gilmer Tournament on May 22 while the Sabine 11 12 year olds won first at Hallsville on May 29. Expos 7 8 year olds placed second at Gilmer May 22. Indians 11 12 year olds represented Gladewater in Gilmer, winning the first round but losing the second. Cards 7 8 year olds represented Gladewater in Hallsville, winning the first round and losing the second. City leaders praised all players for competing in out of town events.

Gladewater TAAF Tennis Tourney Sets Regional Path
Gladewater hosts the city TAAF tennis tournament June 21 and 22 with top three finishers in each category advancing to the TAAF regional play offs to be held July 12 15 in Gladewater. Entry is 4 dollars per person per event with registration due by June 16. Coach Butch Clay directs the event with entries returned to Clay Barker Hale or James Waler.
