Kilgore group wows Romanian audiences in Europe tour

Kilgore News Herald staff writer Mary Meador reports on Kilgore College Rangerettes Ranger Band and Singing Rangers performing in Romania. A 5 p.m. concert drew about 2000 locals who warmed to the group after the Singing Rangers sang the Romanian anthem. Miss Davis could not travel due to recuperating from pneumonia.

Park grants total 31000 for Lake Gladewater improvements

U S Rep Ray Roberts announced a land and water conservation fund grant of 15500 for Gladewater to develop Lake Gladewater park facilities. Texas Parks and Wildlife will administer the funds with a 500 state grant and 15000 city match bringing total to 31000 for a new boat dock concession building asphalt roads and updated picnic areas. City Manager Tony Williams notes 10000 insurance funds and 5000 city labor complete Gladewater’s share with no regular city cash outlay.

Eight-year-old Eddie Derrick Rescued From Lake Gladewater

Eddie Floyd Derrick of 908 South Main Gay Avenue school student narrowly escaped drowning at Lake Gladewater Monday about 2 pm. Fireman Wayne Smith and another man pulled him from the water, administered mouth to mouth resuscitation, and he was taken by ambulance to City Hospital then transferred to Good Shepherd in Longview.

Ambassador College to consolidate Big Sandy campus with Pasadena

Police Car 103 Returns After Two-Day Disappearance

Police car 103, a 1976 Ford LTD, was stolen from the station around 3 a.m. Saturday. A statewide search with helicopters located the vehicle in the river bottoms south of the 271 bridge. The radar unit was missing but no other damage occurred.
